James Cameron's Avatar
Avatar is the first movie to be released by James Cameron since his mega-blockbuster, Titanic. I finished working on Avatar in September of 09. I had been working on the project for over 3 years (July 06 - September 09). I became a lead in December of 2006 and at one point, our department had 13 people.
My objective on this project was to create the real time environments for James Cameron so that he could shoot the movie using his "Virtual Camera". The environments were game-res proxies of the final version you will see in the film.
Creating the environments involved modeling and textuing assets as well as lighting the shots to match the time of day called out in the script. We had strict guidelines on the poly count and texture size of each asset as well as the file size of the environment. Because of this, we had to come up with unique ways of creating the assets and enivornments. Unfortunately, due to NDA's, I currently cannot display anything I did while on Avatar.
The programs I used while working on Avatar were Lightwave, Maya, Motion Builder, Photoshop and After Effects.

Teddy Scares Animated DVD
This was a project I worked on at the D.A.V.E. School.
The object was to create an animated short to accompany the new line of plush toys from Applehead Factory. Working with a team of 20, it took a little over 4 months to create the 8 minute short.
On this project, I worked on the pre-vis, modeling, animation, lighting, and the final comping. I also modeled "Hester," one of the main characters. He is the blue bear that is missing one of his eyes.
The programs I used while working on Teddy Scares were Lightwave, Photoshop and After Effects.
Teddy Scares is on YouTube and can be found here:
